.ram file shows as text/plain

I have a Dell Latitude D620 with Ubuntu 6.06. The problem is, that all .ram files have text file icons. Right-click -> Properties says that the file type is plain text document. MIME type: text/plain. "Open with" tab says that it opens with text editor and I cannot remove this entry.
I've read forums but found no help. I am a beginner.

Please help! It is really annoying! Thanks!

Not a gnome user so not much help on that.
Might try google for search on the topic.

I have had the exact same problem for over week.

Have you ever figured it out. Because I've tried every suggestion and nothing works. I even uninstalled and reinstalled nautilus and nothings changed

Add the filename pattern "*.ram" to the "audio/vnd.rn-realaudio" mimetype.

Thanks for the response. What specific file do I add the file pattern to?

nick623 01-07-2007 08:06 PM

Do I add the *.ram file pattern to the /usr/share/mime/glob file?
It says not to edit because it is generated by the update-mime-database command.

Well "audio/vnd.rn-realaudio:*.ram" is in the /usr/share/mime/globs file. So where do I add the the extension. I have no problem adding it through KDE file associations.
