raid5 reconstruction does not resume on reboot

Hi.

I have just created a new raid5 on debian (lenny), with 3 1tb drives, and it is currently "rebuilding", meaning constructing a new raid. It is currently accessible, but the rebuild will understandibly take quite a while.

My question is this: should the raid driver restart the rebuild if I rebooted right now, or should it resume the rebuild from the point where it is now (which is 30%)? I was under the impression it should resume, so I rebooted the computer to test it when it was at 13%, and the rebuild restarted from 0%. Is this normal? Is there any way to configure it so that it resumes on reboot?

After searching for a long time I only found this guide:
http://www.jessecole.org/2008/08/30/...id-with-linux/ , which states that "a clean reboot (not a power failure probably) is fine and reconstruction will resume when it comes back up.".

Can anyone confirm this for me? Should the raid driver resume reconstruction on reboot? If yes, how can I enable it?

I am running the default lenny kernel which is 2.6.26-1-686 #1 SMP Wed Nov 26 19:14:11.

Thank you very much!
