Raid driver for SLES 9

Good day,

We need someone who can help or assist us to find a Raid driver for the installation of SLES 9 for x86.

Here is the Specs of our IBM server.
IBM xSeries 226, Type: 8648 , Model: 1AA
To be install with a SLES 9 for x86 Operating System
And a Raid set-up to 0,1 or 10.

We cannot continue the SLES9 installation because there's a problem that occur and an error message that say's , no hard disk found for the installation. Please check your hardware.

Maybe the problem with this installation is that we should search/install a SLES 9/Linux raid driver for us to continue the installation.

Hoping for someone who could assist us. Thanks!.. God Bless.

From a very brief Google search:

If you contacted IBM support, they would have given you this as well.

Good day,

We try to follow the instructions that they gave us. But unfortunately it didn't work. There's no update found when we try to make a update diskette. And again that problem upon SLES 9 installation occur, that no hard disk found for the installation. Please check your hardware.
The image file that we use: a320raid-3.00.037-i686-sl90.img found in the IBM support cd.

Well, you're going to have to provide alot more information, other than "it didn't work", no matter who you ask.

You have to get that diskette built, and the array defined first, before ANY operating system will see it, Linux, Windows, whatever. The web site I sent you has the complete instructions, along with download links. If it's failing, CONTACT IBM. I've gone through that same set of instructions numerous times, and it's always worked, so you've got to be missing something. Contacting IBM for support on your IBM hardware, is the best thing I can suggest to you.

Good day, the things that I did are as follows, first I set-up the two scsi hard disk to a raid 1 in our IBM server xSeries 226, then putting on the SLES 9 cd1 to update the raid driver through the diskette that I built, but when I try to update, the machine say's there's no new update found. The raid driver that I try to built is found in the IBM ServeRAID-7e (Adaptec HostRAID) support cd version 1.10 for xSeries 226 type 8648 that we have, there in the cd the one that I try to built in the diskette is the image file a320raid-3.00.037-i686-sl90.img for SCSI, SLES 9 but apparently it didn't solve the problem. Is the one that I use to built is not the right raid driver?. And can I have a hint to know if the one that I will be using will be the right raid driver, like file format of the raid driver, or anything that will be helpful. Thanks for the advice and sorry for the inconvenience. Thanks again!.

Regards,

It sounds like you followed the right procedure...but as I've said in my previous posts: CONTACT IBM!!! They can help you get this loaded and installed, and tell you anything you might be missing.
