Raid 1 degraded, removed "bad" drive, replaced...
Replaced with a new drive of like size and make. Now I am in the raid bios and I am left with two options....activate array....delete array. I am not going to do anything to this server until I am absolutely sure that I am doing the correct thing. I have data on my initial "good" hdd so I am obviously trying to keep that data. I do not want to erase this data....that would be heartbreaking....if anyone knows anything about this that would be great....this server is a Dell 1435 with dual 250gb hdd's. Thank you in advance for any advice or instruction.

My guess if a replaced drive you would have to delete the array and then create a new one because the being what seems to ba a hardware raid system it may have set the model and serial number of the drive in the array. Also being raid 1 you are just mirror the drive. What you may have to do is duplicate the drive with say ghost for linux or partimage from a live cd. Or from a linux boot floppy, cd, or usb stick and use dd to duplicate. Does the Dell manual not describe what to do in raid 1 mode of the controller.
