FYI

This phenomenon (OpenGL not working) happened not so long ago. Before I was able to have the screen turning like a cube and other special effects. Don't know what caused this. Maybe one should just live with it...

If you look at this numbers in the package names, you'll see that some are 0.9.0 and some are 0.8.*. They should all be 0.9.* or 0.8.*. I suggest removing all compiz packages and reinstalling them, making sure they are all from the same repository.

Also, your OpenGL is working just fine. It's compiz that isn't.

I tried to take away every repository from the sources list having to do with compiz and Cairo-dock and whatever and completely uninstalled Cairo-dock and re-started and this is what I get from the terminal. Is there still something I can do (and how???) to be able to install Cairo-dock anew and get it running as expected...?

dpkg -l | grep compiz
ii compiz 1:0.8.6-0ubuntu9.1 OpenGL window and compositing manager
ii compiz-core 1:0.8.6-0ubuntu9.1 OpenGL window and compositing manager
ii compiz-fusion-plugins-main 0.8.6-0ubuntu2 Compiz Fusion plugins - main collection

ii compizconfig-settings-manager 0.8.2-0ubuntu1 Compiz configuration settings manager

Your output now looks fine. Are you able to run compiz?

Installed Cairo-dock, only no OpenGL version works. GLX-dock (OpenGL graphics) is not responding. Compiz doesn't even give the option to take OpenGL into use
as it did before, don't know where it disappeared. I remember a time when I could have wobbly windows, now it is not working anymore ... Am seriously considering to clean out everything and install a new 10.10 again. Maybe that should help. Here's some info for your information, is it telling anything important???

dpkg -l | grep compiz
ii compiz 1:0.8.6-0ubuntu9.1 OpenGL window and compositing manager

OK, let's forget about cairo-dock for the moment and focus just on compiz... compiz 0.8.* never had an option to use OpenGL. It only uses OpenGL. Now that you have the proper versions of compiz installed, what happens when you start compiz?
