Quick question kernel compileing


Was just wondering if I compile a kernel on debian sarge can I install that kernel on a debian potato or woody?

My guess would be yes for woody 2.4 kernel and maybe for potato. You might break a bunch of stuff on potato or woody if it had a 2.2 kernel since all the firewalling scripts and stuff will be ipchains instead of iptables. But other than that, I suspect it wouldn't be an issue. But I would keep my old kernel around just in case...
