I'm going to install VectorLinux...
At first I was going to install Mandrake...then that switched to RedHat...then I started looking at Slackware...and it sounded appealing...cause of the efficiency...and then VectorLinux claims to be a more...user-friendly version...built on Slackware...so...even better...since I'm just starting out
I know it may not be the most newbie friendly distro to start with, but when asked what distro the start with, everyone has such varying opinions :P It took me a while to pick one, doesn't hurt to just pick one and give it a go, if it doesn't work, can always try another if anything. I firsted tried Knoppix and it was okay, just SLOW!!! cause it was off CD. I want a more permenant Linux to practice in.
Partition magic will create the extended partition and keep my 2 linux partitions in it, and i like that, so I'll just go create the partitions now and then install Linux
thanks for your help
P.S. Would you mind explaining why making the linux swap partition double your ram size is now outdated? Just curious
