Questions on installing Mandrake 10.1

Hello All,

I am trying to multi boot on my machine with Win XP Pro and Mandrake 10.1. My problem is I am a complete n00b when it comes to linux (I am trying to fix that by installing and learning a bit about mandrake). I have XP Pro installed and I am having a problem installing Mandrake 10.1. The install goes fine (as far as I can tell) up until it can't find my raid. I am not sure what I really have to do here. I have noticed in a few posts that other people have had problems with SATA. Can anyone shine a light on what or where to find the info for me to get mandrake to notice my raid and get it installed.

As I said before I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to linux but I hope to change that in the coming months. Any help at all is much appreciated (and I stress at all).

My Setup-
MOBO - Soyo P4I875P Dragon 2 V1.0 / CPU - P4 3.2GHz / 2G Corsair Ram / 2xWestern Digital SATA 74GB Raptors RAID 0 / ATI X800 Pro
Raid Partitioned as /25GB Win XP OS/40GB Applications and Stuff/40GB Games/The rest is all unpartitioned at the time being

Thanks in advance,
Patrick

Hi Sunderhaus,

How did you get your distro ? Is it a download or is it a boxed set that you ordered from MandrakeStore ?
Perhaps it is just because your CDs (in case of download) are corrupted ..
I f you downloaded them, try to use only NON-Rewritable CD-roms, because the other kind tend to make people have the kind of probs you just experienced.

Hope that can help you a bit.
Don't give up, Manfrake is great to begin with !

Cheers

Only tried with ide raid disks, Mandrake don't see it as a raid controller (depending on the type though), so I just used another disk not in the raid, or configured the raid as a software raid in Mandrake advanced tab in disk configurator - but I see the problem if you have already XP on the raid disks
