Questions about transparency

I got rmxvt (terminal) working in transparent mode. I love the look, but one thing I didn't expect is that transparency, for rmxvt at least, doesn't show what's behind the terminal window but rather shows the desktop background. If rmxvt is the only window open, that's fine, but if there are other windows behind the terminal window it looks a little odd to "skip" them.

1) Is this normal behavior for all transparent terminals? They all ignore what happens to be behind them and just display the desktop?

2) Is there a transparent file browser out there?

Thanks.

Only the latest X.org xserver does compositing that is required for true transparency ( xcomposite ). Unless you have that installed most things will do what you've seen when their transparent ( and some stuff will do that anyway when it is there ). It a simple ( or not so simple ) trick to fake transparency.

I don't know of any Browser that does tranparency yet.
