Questions about 64-bit Linux

I have an AMD64, 3000+ and was thinking of trying to install a 64-bit Linux OS (preferably Fedora Core 2 or even 3) but I am worried about lack of support for video codecs and such... A friend mentioned that you can "install" a 32-bit version of Linux within 64-bit Linux to make use of the afore mentioned codecs... I was just wondering how that's done...

I am running SuSE 9.1 64bit version. It installed with both 64 bit and 32 bit libraries so there would not be issues running 32 bit apps on the machine. Yes there are some issues! Some technologies just will not work. I do not believe there is a 64 bit version od ndiswrapper if ya need that. Most everything else has not been a problem, or is fixable. My recommendation is to not install it yet. Give it a short time and then everything will work fine.

I do not know if RH has a 64 bit version out. I do not/will not use redhat, so it is not an issue for me.
