Question regarding TCP coding and TCP header in ns2

Hi, I would like to ask where can i get explanation of TCP Vegas coding? The explanation that i mean includes the explanation of definition of the parameters and also how the coding actually works.

Additionally, regarding to TCP header, how can we use the reserved bit in order to add some improvement to the TCP performance? For example, referring to C.Y.Ho et.al regarding their research [An efficient Mechanism of TCP-Vegas on Mobile IP Networks] by implementing simple modification of uses one reserved bit (SIG) in the TCP header. I had search about SIG bit in the internet but did not found any good reference.

Thank you in advance.

Regards,
bsyew
