Question of sanity

I"m running RH9 with KDE. Is there a way while i'm a regular user to login as root, not in konsole, but to just bring up a password dialogue so i'd have root prevlieges in the gui like i would if i initially logged in as root? I sometimes want to just run as root in my normal user profile but keep having to switch back and forth.

I don't know if that's possible, I think not. I use a workaround for this. You can launch a second KDE session from the Starter menu and login as root there. You can then switch between two GUI sessions by toggling ctrl-alt-F7 and ctrl-alt-F8 without having to logout as user and relogin as root.

Johnny.

I use mandrake, but the name of the app I use to run as superuser is kdesu. If that means its a KDE app perhaps its available to use with Redhat?
