Question about zone files.... (BIND)

Is it a common convention to include records for

www.mydomain.com

and

mydomain.com

like such:

; Name to address mappings
www.mydomain.com. IN A 66.23.58.99
mydomain.com. IN A 66.23.58.99

in zone files?
