Question about installing ClamAV

I am trying to install ClamAV and when I do a ./configure I get the following:

configure: error: in `/root/Documents/ClamAV/clamav-0.97.7':
configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH

This at the end of the run. I am using CentOS 6.

Thanks
Advassy

Moved: This thread is more suitable in the Newbie forum (taxonomy-wise an installation error and not a Linux Security issue) and has been moved accordingly to help your thread/question get the exposure it deserves.

*BTW no need to compile it IMHO: ClamAV should be in the EPEL, DAG or RPMForge repo.

did you install gcc and autotools ?

also clamav is in the centos epel repo
-- install epel then
http://wiki.centos.org/AdditionalResources/Repositories
Code:
su -
yum install clamav
but if you are intent on building the source
install
Code:
su -
yum groupinstall " Development Tools"
then make a new NON ROOT user called " clamav " ( without the "") first
and DO NOT make a home folder for it

also NEVER run "./configure" as ROOT
that WILL cause problems !!!
as a normal non-root user run ./configure and make
then become root in the terminal session and run "make install"
