Question about gtk

Is it possible to have more than 1 version of gtk in the system?
Some programs like xmms need gtk-config for building, bur i have gtk+-2.8.4, which seems not to have gtk-config.

yes gtk 1 and 2 can exist together. I think you can have glib 1 2 also
