question

I burned the ISO of my distro of linux to CD but it wont boot when I try to boot from CD? What am I doing wrong?

Go here :
http://carroll.aset.psu.edu/pub/linu...ent/rootdisks/
and download bootmgr.dsk.

Then download RAWRITEXP.EXE.
Use rawwritexp.exe to make a floppy of the bootmgr.dsk. Then boot to it and then pick the cdrom to boot from.

it says

Its says non system disk or disk error when I try to boot from the floppy

Did you burn the iso as a proper iso file? You can't burn iso files like regular files for they are special. Check with the documentation on your burning application to make sure you are doing it correctly.

Maybe your computer's BIOS isn't set to boot from CD. Different computers have different ways to enterit, so read your computer's manual for more info. After you have entered the bios, set the boot sequence so that the cdrom is before the harddrive

Be sure you're not burning ISO's of ISO's... I made the same mistake a couple weeks ago. If you're using Nero--refrain from clicking the "ISO" tab--because basically, you'll be burning an ISO of an ISO. Instead, Open/Select the ISO file, and select burn--it should show up as either a data/CD Image--can't quite remember.

And to save yourself discs--burn only the first disc--check to see that it works (ie it goes to the Installation Screen post-boot up), and then reboot to burn the rest....
