qt vs wxwidgets
I've been reading qt vs. wxwidgets threads. I can't decide.
I made a game level editor that displays with openGL and relies completely on hotkeys. It is terrible to use. I want to start over and use either qt or wxwidgets.
So I'm making a small independent project that I'm sure I will give away for free. I don't need a ton of features, just some buttons and menus. I need to display jpgs and png's, if it could do OpenGL too that would be great but I don't need it for the editor. And probably I will make the source code available eventually too, but I don't want to be forced to make it open source. And maybe by some freak chance I get super motivated and I make my game good enough to sell (seriously doubt it) I would like to package the editor with it.
So wxwidgets or qt? I don't know anything about either one and I just want to pick one and stick with it. I'm leaning towards wxwidgets but I'm not sure.
Forced to make it open sourced? Look around you, look at all the open sourced stuff you're using. If that is your attitude then kindly grab an MHDD disk and go pay for Windows. Then develop on there, sell for there and enjoy losing a little bit of your soul, forced into open source indeed.
But oh, a shining light! Lo, a beacon in the fog of wxwidgets! A miracle! We may one day see the source to this life changing OpenGL based horror. But alack and alas, if we do, we sure as hell can't do anything with it!
Buy the book, and sell your game. Make your money back and then some.
