qt install problem*!*help?

almost 3 weeks ago i quit, gave up. started 6wk ago. unhappy with gcad, wanted to try qcad on my
t40 thinkpad with suse 9.0 professional (default gnome no developement install....really works great right out of the box
everything is solid, consistent, and dependable). but stuff i try to add sometimes gives me fits like now with qcad.
qcad wont configure because of lack of qmake and uic.
so i find a "community" source code for qt-3.3.8 and try to uninstall the qt3.2.9 with yast(it seemed to work)
and replace with the newer version of qt from source code in my /usr/src/packages/SOURCES directory. it gives a lot of
messages and error for ./configure ; and then make seems to work okay, but " make install" balks right away and says
[ERROR] [2] after saying it cant find qmake directory which is right there in same directory i'm in that i seem to
successfully run ./configure and make in.
any weblink you could point me to .....to maybe learn more about what i need to know
to understand how i might solve this problem. ??
most appreciated*!*

This may be asking the obvious, but isn't qcad already packaged for your distribution?

Anyway, there errors from ./configure will tell you what you need to install. If they don't make sense to you, please post them (ie cut and paste the exact output from your terminal).

Did you try their (Qt) mailing lists:
http://lists.trolltech.com/mailman/listinfo/qt-interest

People there, are real experts and are sure to help you some way or the other.

But if you want proper help from them, then never post your question as a big paragraph, break it down in small points, explaining each point well, and remember only one question per email
