Question QjoyPad once worked wonderful

QjoyPad leaves the following message.
There is already a running instance of QjoyPad; please
close
the old instance before starting a new one.

For about a year qjoypad mounted my 1gc joystick with an icon on the taskbar and worked without a hitch. Not sure what changed but for the past month been searching around uninstalling and reinstalling restarting with and without usb connected to no avail. every kill program ive found leaves me wanting. Im up for ideas. running on Slackware 14 64 bit

This sounds like a lock-file issue. It is mentioned in the documentation.
You might have an old lock-file that was not deleted. (possibly when the system was not shut down correctly?)
My suggestion is to boot up and look for a lock-file before launching QjoyPad. If you find one, delete it and then try launching QjoyPad.
Note: Make sure you don't have any instance of QjoyPad running before deleting a lock-file (if you can find the lock file)

Code:
ps -e | grep qjoypad
