Hello. I am connecting to the internet via AnalogX proxy (it is on a Win2000 machine, which connects with a modem). I have set up the browsers ok, but I cannot figure out how to do either of these:
1. Set up HTTPS in Konqueror. I put the correct information in (the port and the ip address--it is the same as normal HTTP which works) but when I go to a site that is "secure" I can't log in (like for yahoo mail, for instance.) HTTPS works in mozilla just fine with the same settings, is there something I am missing in konqueror?
2. Set up the console to be able to connect to the internet. I'm not even sure if this is what I need to do--here is my problem. I downloaded and installed a program to update my livejournal from the console, so it needs to connect to the internet. I don't know where I need to put the proxy settings so it knows how to connect. I tried reading manuels for proxy and networking and I am even more confused. I just need to know where to put that ip address and the port number. Or maybe I need more info than I need for the web browers? I'm sorry I sound so dumb about this, but honestly I've tried to find help in the documentation and I am so lost.
I am running Linux Mandrake 8.1, and I am currently using KDE as my window manager (if that makes a difference).
I really appreciate any help you can give. If you need more information let me know--I'm new at this! Thank you.
