Hi iam new linux, i have installed Fedora Core 3 on my computer.
I have enabled my firewall on my computer(with permission only to FTP and Telnet) and the problem is we have solaris machine in the lab on which lot of technical software has been installed i have tyoed the folowing commands
xhost + 10.10.1.4
telnet 10.10.1.4 (logged in)
setenv DISPLAY 10.140.1.22:0.0 (10.140.1.22 IP address of my maschine)
emacs
after i have typed emacs it says
Warning: Unable to open display 0.0
and the application quits.,
please help me to fix this problem
is there any port for display i have to enable in my firewall to get this work..
If you are behind a firewall (I assume you either made up the ip addresses or have a router between two private networks) then you need to pass port 6000 traffic back to your desktop computer.
