Question program problems

I received the greatest belated birthday gift one could ask for today, well maybe not the greatest but still. That's right red hat 9. It was much needed and much appreciated , however, I am having problems setting up my programs, many programs are geared for windows, is there something I can download to allow my programs to run on linux. When I go to run the exe file , it tried to open it instead of installing it... and it can't nautilus doesn't have something to open it ... Please help!
