Program associations in Gnome

I have RH 8 and using Gnome as root.
I have been having this problem with images, when I
specify what program (kuickshow because its the closest
thing i have found to acdsee in windows) it still opens the
image in the Gnome window. I dont know why it wont open
the images in Kuickshow. I associated all my video files
to open with Xine, and they all work fine.
Thanks for any help.

Is it possible to change gnome's default image viewer instead of just altering the mime type associations?

I dont know. If there is I dont know where or how to do it.
When I click on any image it opens in the same nataulis(sp?)
window.
The reason I like Kuickshow is that you can open any image
with it, zoom in or out, use the browser or use the mouse
wheel to view each image in a directory.

It's in the preferences, Preferred Applications, or something like that. Look and you shall find.

How does one set the default mail program? (I can find neither the default image viewer nor default e-mail program in "Preferred Applications.")
