a good way to check compatability is to check out the Redhat page...they should have a section that says what is known to be compatible and what is suspect etc. If not the mandrake site has one and they should be similar anyways.

If it locks in no gui mode....it is not the vid card
you said you checked the media....so not the cd's

I don't use APIC b/c I dual boot with XP and am not fond of the results in performance from APIC. However, I have searched the forums and there is some indication that is can be buggy.

Have you checked the cd-drive with another?
(LG has a fix that needs to be implemented if they made the drive, dependent on the model number)

Fedora is the almalgamation of the RedHat effort and the fedora effort. It is all linked off the Red Hat site. I downloaded it...so I am not sure if there is another way to get it.

Try the APIC thing, but then try turning off the Lan and any of the integrated peripherials. Do them one by one to narrow it down.

Let me know what you get with the APIC and then shutting down the integrated components.

Cheers,

DH

ACPI or APIC it is definitely in the bios......my lists APIC....there is a difference b/w them and it is listed in the forum. But just look for either...again mine is listed as APIC, also set you bios so that you are not running a plug and play OS

Cheers,

DH
