Problems with wininet for Picasa on Ubuntu64 14

I just installed wine/Picasa39 on an ubuntu64 14LTS system as administrator (using sudo). I have 2 problems:
1) Picasa seems to work fine locally, but I get an authentication error when I try to login to my google account. The login button at he right upper corner is activated, but I never get a chance to put in my user name and password.
I followed the instructions of http://wiki.winehq.org/picasa for wininet and picasa activation and configuration (e.g., env WINEPREFIX="/home/<user>/.winepicasa" wine picasa39-setup.exe). However, there must have been some changes in wine and winetricks because I do not have all the files indicated on the web site.
2) How do I make picasa available to other users who do not have administrative rights? Others have read priviledges. How do I place a link on other users Desktop?

Thanks for any help.
