Problems with Wine

I'm having a problem with wine. I am using the version of wine that came with RH7.2. When I try to start the program Trillian, it says that I did not set up config correctly and need WinMM in there. How do I set this up correctly?

(yes, I am new to linux, but I'm not completely stupid on the subject, any help would be hot)

Well, there is some documentation on wine's website:
http://www.winehq.org/fom-meta/cache/19.html
But it's sometimes hard to find what you are looking for, give yourself a bit of time to read through it.

Hot, huh huh, cool.

I don't have the slightest idea what WinMM is.
There is a setuputility for wine that configures it automatically - it's called winesetuptk.Thats originally a debian package - no idea if it is available for RH or not try rpmsearch. It does work with gentoo so there might be something available.
Plus wine is really strange - when I try to run virtualdub from my Winpartition it doesn't work at all. When I install it on the Linuxpartition it starts just fine (um,err - not with wine but with winex).
That leads to the idea that you could try winex, too. The setback there is that you have to buy it or compile it from cvs.At least the last time I checked.

did you used to live there or did you come all the way down from Washington every summer?

and yes, Utah is pretty cool.

as it turns out, I can get IE to work (although just enough to test my website in it) so I guess it's ok. I really don't care much for win apps though, the one I do like it Trillian, so I guess I'll just wait on that port they're promising. Thanks anyway ya'll.

There is a sort of "equivilent" if you haven't tried it, it's called gaim. The homepage is http://gaim.sf.net

And yes, I am from Utah, SLC actually. I would think that the 17 hour drive would be a bit much for someone to accomplish for a trip to cherry hill :D

I went to the following schools:
Riley Elementary
Glendale Junior High
Kennedy Middle School
Hunter High School
and, woohoo for:
Granite High School :D

Any chance you may have went there too?

Cool ;)

well, I have gaim installed, but I simply use the Y! and AIM versions for linux distributed by them. and then I use amsn for msn, that's the reason I wanted trillian, it's a crappy port. hehe
