Problems with shorewall and fairnat


Hi,
I am aluzumbabas. all the way from Nigeria. i'm kind of new in the linux sruff. I want to implement shorewall and fairnat for firewalling and bandwidth management. But it always comes up with an error messsage saying no iptables found and no tc-htb. Please are there any suggestions for me to solve my problem.

I sent a thread earlier on. I have installed the fairnat but in trying to restart it, the error mesaage is that there r no iptables and tc-htb files.
The shorewall cannot even be installed cause it says that there r no iptables. Please, r there any suggestions on how solve my problem.

Member Intro is a great place to say hello, but technical questions(like this one) are much better in a more technical forum like Linux-Newbie. That's why the thread is moved.


To run shorewall you need both iptables and tc (from iproute package). You need to install them before shorewall. Depending on your distribution, the method of installation is different. The packages you need are on your installation cd (or any other media you used).
