I have 2 machines, a Linux box works as an server and a Windows2000 machine acts as a client. Connection between the two is null modem (serial line). I've set up all things, but there were somethings I didn't know how to solve.. Connection works fine except the case below.
I've set up the pppd in the server in PERSIST mode and my chatscript for pppd is:
Every time the client wants to connect, it send the CLIENT string and waiting for the CLIENTSERVER string.
I suppose the link is broken immediately after the chatting phase is completed.
If this is the first connection after pppd has started, then pppd sends some LCP configure packets and receives no response --> it restarts (persist) ---> chat ---> ...
If this is the 2nd, 3rd... connection, then pppd sends no LCP configure packet. It sleeps forever. It doesn't recall chat program, so client couldn't receive the CLIENTSERVER string.
What I want is to make the server restart after some time waiting for LCP packets. So that the server can accept connections from client. Is there any TIMEOUT options for pppd? My pppd version is 2.2.0.
Anyone can help me, please!!!
