Problems with OS and hardware compatibility on linux embedded board
Hi,
I'm a student engineer in Belgium and for our bachelorproject we use a linux embedded board. We use a Nano-ITX EPIA-NR10000EG. As operating system we choose to run Damn Small Linux from a USB stick. Until here everything works great, we have a wired internetconnection, every USB device we plug in works. So we are very happy with DSL.
But now it's essential that we have wireless internet and the school gave us a D-link dwl-g122 USB adapter. We tried, but didn't got it to work. After a while we found a potential usefull driver, but it was in a .zip file and there wasn't any extracting software on DSL?
My question for you is:
- Is it better to change to another distro that's more compatible with different hardware? If so, which one you suggest? DSL-N, UClinux, puppylinux? (we have 512 mb ram and 1,2 Ghz processor, but we want to have a small and fast distro). Also it would be easy to be able to have a software center, like ubuntu has.
- Or maybe someone can explain, or push us to the right direction, of how we can make the D-link work on DSL?
Thanks in advance,
probably I will be posting more questions here for the coming months,
since we really want to learn alot about linux.
I'm off reading through the forum now..
