problems with my synaptic
 

hey there every one i just did a clean install of Mepis and am a newbie at this too so: i'm trying to open up synaptic an an error message come up that reads "KDEInit could not launch '/usr/bin/gksu'" any advice?

Did you get a beta release? Those can be quite buggy at times. Anyway, try this:

launch Applications > Accessories > Terminal and type:

sudo synaptic
