Unhappy Problems with Monitor drivers

Hi.

I have a problem with my monitor drivers, well more like... I don't have drivers for this monitor and no linux distribution regognizes this monitor.

It's some cheap buster Compaq MV740 (17").

I was hoping if somebody knows where to get drivers for this and how to install em. Im currenlty using Ubuntu (Debian based Linux distro).

And I really need the drivers because this 1027*768 / 60Hz blows my eyes out, actually I have no choice but to go back to Windows if I can't get this beast working.

So I need the drivers for this and how-to installation guide / configuration guide for it.

I would love to use Linux but this monitor problem is just too overwhelming. Also I don't have money for new monitor so...

I have tried some general drivers and stuff but I just can't get the Hz go higher than 60, and I need it to be atleast 70hz (like I had in windows) so I can use this without headache.

Thanks in advance.

Well then, is there a way to force the monitor to use 70Hz mode?

which distro and which x.
are you using xfree86 the edit /etc/X11/xfree86.conf
if not, edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Scroll down to the monitor section, and add your vertical and horizontal refresh rate, then put resolution you want in the modes in the screen section... But be carefull to get the right specs for your monitor...
