Problems with 3D settings on Fedora 8
Hi all,
I have Fedora 8 installed on my system, and I have an Nvidia GeForce Go 6150 graphics card installed. I have a compaq presario V3424, 1.5 GB of RAM, AMD Turion 2.20 64, and 120 GB HDD.
My problem is that I installed the graphics driver for my graphics card using yum and got the 3d activate/deactivate thing active. But now, what happens is when I enable the 3d settings/effects, my laptop freezes within 5-10 minutes of that time. Nothing works after that - the mouse doesn't move either.(only the power switch does :P )
Can anyone tell me what to do about this?
PS -I'm using gnome.
Well it could easily be a problem between the 3d effects (compiz fusion I assume?), your graphics card driver, X and/or the actual hardware. Can you run other 3d things with accelaration without trouble? At least the dri-enabled gears that people usually test their framerates with?
Also see what your Xorg logfile says around the freeze - if anything gets logged.
