problems restoring image file with dd

Hi.
I have a pendrive where I restore an image maked by dd command in other system.
When I restore the image, always I must do a fsck.
Is possbile that when I've generated the image the source system was corrupted or it is that I corrupt the pendrive when I restore the image file ?
Many thanks and sorry for my English!

If that image was made while the filesystem was mounted, then it will be flagged as needing recovery and the image will have several inconsistencies that fsck will have to clean up. To make a clean image of a filesystem, it cannot be mounted read/write. Unmounted or mounted read-only should be OK.

I suspect rknichols is correct. Another idea maybe size and geometry of disk different.
