Problems printing

I have just changed from FC4 to FC5 and things generally seem a little better all round but i can't seem to make the silly thing print anything.
I've followed though the printer config tool but when i reach the end and it asks if i want to print a test page and apply the changes it takes an age to think about it before giving me this message;
There was a problem sending CUPS test page
to 'EpsonR300' queue:

lpr: error - unable to print file: server-error-service-unavailable

The printer is switched on and works fine in windows so i know the printer is ok.
Any thoughts??

Well, I dunno much about fedora (bloody deadrat would never install on my system so I won't even waste my time with fedora), but, have you tried deleting the printer in cups and manually adding it again ?

Erm, I think it's http://127.0.0.1:631 in a browser - then when you try to do anything it should normally ask you for a username and password. Both my previous mandriva and current SuSE do that, but I can only change anything with username of root and the root password.

Then just follow the steps for "add printer" to make sure you're using the correct driver (or at least the recommended one).

Or maybe google for FC5 hardware compatibility list and see if that epson printer is there (I seem to recall that nearly all HP and most epson ones should work).

John

p.s. the fact that the printer works in windows is irrelevant. They make the drivers (proprietary ones) specifically for windows i.e. they're probably on some sort of install disc.
