Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

I just installed a couple days ago, I'm a complete linux newbie. I am having an intermittent problem that when I try to log out of KDE, it doesn't. Sometimes, nothing at all happens when I click logout, sometimes I get the "End KDE Session?" box, and when I click logout there, then nothing happens. It might be related to another problem I have, that when I try to open a prog (the included games especially for some reason), it will give me the little disk spinning on the taskbar, then dissapear, then maybe 10 -15 minutes later the prog will open. If I try to open them from a CL, it will sometimes give a message "Could not open socket 1601" (from memory, it's not doing it now of course). Or sometimes, nothing at all happens, it just sits, and doesn't return another prompt.
I tried finding information about it, but either it's not common or I just don't know what to search for, since I couldn't find anything related. I don't even really know what information would be helpful to you. Any suggestions?
