problems installing MDK dual boot

HI, Another newbie here. I am running XP on my drive and i would like to install MDK 10 also. The problem is when i try too, all seems to go well until the format/partition stage. It just locks up, not sure why. Is it possible that because my drive is on Serillel ATA rather than the standard IDE? Anyone care to help me on this...Appreciation in advance!!!
