Problems: Error communicating with server


Hi, everyone. I am new user to Linux. I am using RHN system. Today, I were running Yum, some errors appeared as the below.

Before, I had never such problems. I tried to search some solutions in Google, but can not find it. Can anybody help me?
Thanks a lot!

[root]# Yum install xorg-x11-server-Xvfb
or
[root]# Yum list updates

There was an error communicating with RHN
RHN support will be disabled
Error communicating with server. The message was: Connection timed out

Hi there,

Welcome to LQ!!!

Did you register (subscribed) your system to RHN, if yes then you can contact RedHat technical support and explain them this problem. You can go to this link and log a case with RedHat: http://www.redhat.com/support/

If you have not registered your system with RHN then you cannot get updates from RedHat as it is not open source. You have to pay them money to get support from them and updates.

If you just want to practice on RedHat then you can go with its rebuild CentOS which works exactly same as RedHat.
