problems configuring lexmark 100 printer with cups

I'm running Red hat 7.3 with Cups 1.1.4

I went throught the administration page of cups localhost:631, and added a the lexmark 1000 printer, and there was an existing driver with it.

I tried to print a test page, but nothing came out of my printer, when I tried to restart it, it said client-error-not-possible.

I downloaded a newer copy of the lexmark ppd, and then installed a printer using that, with the same results.

I changed the configuration to a black ink jet cartridge.

When I tried to print a test page it said aborted after a few seconds, when I tried to restart it, it said client-error-not-possible.

During the entire thing the printer doesn't make a noise.
