Problems compiling 2.6.x kernel on RedHat 8.0

I have followed the instructions (ww.linuxgazette.com/node/view/9060) for compiling the 2.6.x kernel on RedHat 8.0 but cannot seem to get past step 12.

I get the following error when I run make modules_install:

[root@lnx-comp linux-2.6.7]# make modules_install
ln: when making multiple links, last argument must be a directory
make: *** [_modinst_] Error 1

What I am missing/done wrong?

Thanks for any help !
