problem with xearth
 

I have downloaded the source tarball of 'xearth' and installed it. The compilation went well and it did not show any error. But when i tried to run it , it simply does not display anything on the background...

then I tried many other similar softwares like xplanet, xfishtank etc but all behaved the same way.......Plzzzzzzzz help!!!!!!!!:cry:

I think the problem may be due to nautilus. Actually what is happening is that Nautilus draws the background as one big window. This has the effect of covering up the ``real' background. You can set nautilus to not draw on the desktop (in Nautilus's settings).:D

Does anyone know how to switch between nautilus and gmc .I want to disable nautilus in my login ...

I uninstalled nautilus, that was my answer to the hog.
