Problem with USB mass storage drive

I am running Mandrake 10.1 official on a ppc and have a problem when using aUSB storage drive. In KDE after it is mounted I can not use Konqueror to browse the drive contents or for anything else for that matter. I can only browse the drive using anothger web browser. if I want to use Konqueror again I have to end and themn restart the session. Any help would be appreciated.
