Problem With up2date


Hi all,

When i issued command up2date -u --nosig the get the following error

Error communicating with server. The message was:
Proxy Authentication Required

Could some one guide me what would be the main problem and solution to it.
Any help will be greatly appreciated

Looks to me like your behind a proxy server that needs authentication.

Yup I am behind proxy server
Could u please guide me how to over come the problem of being behind proxy server.I have user name and passwd concerned to proxy server.
I tried with the following command but it was helpless
up2date -u --nosig --proxyUser:XXXXX --proxyPassword:XXXXXX
I have set the global parameter for http_proxy as
http_proxy=proxy.edu.int

What version of RedHat are you running?

You do know that RH requires a paid subscription to get their updates?

I have a paid subscription for redhat
and I use RHEL 4 version

Ok, since you have a paid subscription your best answers are going to come from RedHat itself. That is what you are paying for.
