Problem with the installation of HP-LaserJet 1102 Professional
Hello !!
I recently installed Debian Squeeze stable in my netbook. Everything is working fine. The problem I have now is the installation and configuration of my printer. I download the hplip 3.11.1 installer because Squeeze comes with an older version which does not support my printer. After following wizard's instruction I got the following message: warning: Missing REQUIRED dependency: gcc (gcc - GNU Project C and C++ Compiler) warning: This installer cannot install 'gcc' for your distro/OS and/or version. error: Installation cannot continue without this dependency. Please manually install this dependency and re-run this installer. So I then proceeded to install such dependencies and re-run the installer but again I got the same output. It appears that the dependencies are all installed. I already did the same procedure installing my printer on the Ubuntu 10.04 partition and it works perfectly. Did I forget something? Has anybody some idea? Thanks!! :) |
I've spent this afternoon vainly trying to get hp-setup to install my printer on my new Fedora installation. The day was finally saved by using system-config-printer instead.

First get the program using the Add software option in the System menu, or with
su -c "apt-get install system-config-printer" I'm assuming that Debian has it; they have got the bigest respository. Then the program should show up in the System menu, or you can run it from the command line. When I ran the program, it found my printer and got the driver. Make sure your printer is connected to the computer and switched on! |
