problem with rebooting

when i try rebooting my system i get an error stating that "kernel panic not syncing attempted to kill init". and the whole rebooting process halts. wat sholud i do nw please help:confused: :confused: :confused: :confused: :confused: :confused: :confused: :confused:

What did you do before it stopped booting?
Did it work at one time?
