Problem with printer device
 
I'm trying to install CUPS, but I don't find a lpd or lp0 in /dev.
All I find is /dev/printer, and when i try to test it via "echo "test" >/dev/printer", it says "no device found".

My printer is a HP Deskjet 640C connected to the parallel port of my Computer. I have Debian Sarge installed.

PS: the printer is switched on

Make sure you have installed cups and that its running, then open a web browser and go to http://localhost:631 . Also make sure you have the hp printing packages e.g. hpij, hpoj or hplip installed.
