Problem with orinoco wifi card damn small linux

Hi I've started using linux for a week now so all of this is farely new to me. I had a lot of problems installing damn small linux (dsl) but at last i did it. My laptop is a gateway mmx 200 mhz with 98 ram. According to dsl wiki my orinoco pcmcia gold wireless card is ready to use once installed. On boot it recognizes it. But once it's on "desktop" the wifi card turns off. Then I opened the control panel run the netcardconfig interface eth0 use dhcp broadcast, save configuration and apply. the card turns on but no internet connection. could anyone help me out. thanks

can you post the output of
Code:
 ifconfig -a >> ipconfiguration.txt
and
Code:
lsmod >> loadedmodules.txt
you may need to be root to run these commands. Then post the information contained in these files. That will give us a good start.

Well it looks like the card is loaded. Is you internet wide open or is it using wpe or wpa? Do you have the wireless-tools package installed? if you do try doing a wireless scan for your ap. I think the command you will want is iwlist. May need to run man iwlist to get the options.

Also I think DSL comes only with fluxbox installed. You may want to install a network manager. This is the one that I use. Course I am using a gnome desktop but I am sure you can find others if that does not work. A network manager will help when you want to roam wirelessly.

well, looking around the web for other ideas or anything that could help me out with my internet connection using my wireless card finally I was able to connect to the internet. The only thing I did was opened the wireless network. Without the WEP key I was able to get the connection. Now the next step is to setup the connection using WEP. Any help will be much appreciated.
