i am a new member of this forum. i am a new linux user & my distro is Mandriva 2008.0.
my main problem is, i have a fixed wireless terminal from Huawei Technology, China. it works fine in windows xp & i use it for internet connection.
its a USB modem.
its model is- HUAWEI ETS 2058.
how can i install it in Mandriva?
it has a modem driver CD to install it.
i tried with wine but failed to run it.
plz. give me the easiest solution to install & use it in my Mandriva, becoz i decide to use linux as my home OS.
this modem has no linux version modem driver package. what can i do now?
plz. anybody help me.
is there any package to install & use such modems in linux?

We volunteer our time, so telling us to "give quick answer" is not very polite.
The driver disk you have is for Windows, not for linux, so even if you got it to run under Wine, it would be useless. Check here
This isn't a quick answer and I'm not sure what it says at it's in a language that I do not understand, but here's an article that appears to deal with getting this device working in PCLinuxOS which is very close to mandriva:
Perhaps someone more familiar with this type of hardware or the language could decipher what's going on here and offer some assistance. It does not appear to be a simple process but it seems the guy in the article got the device working in linux.
