Problem with lilo and LBA32,

I installed RH7.3 on a DB system with XP and chose lilo to install on the MBR. When I restart the computer, it goes to booting Win xp instead of giving me an option of which OS to use. I downloaded the lates lilo (v22.3) and tried installing it but it gave me an error something about it exceeds the 1024 cylinder range and tells me that I need to use LBA32. Is there a special way of setting up my partitions so that the bootloader can be installed in the first 1024 cylinders range?

If my MB supports LBA, does that mean it supports LBA32?

Partition Setup
---------------------

Partition 1- C: (winxp)
- extended
Partition 2- Linux Swap
Partition 3- Linux Root
Partition 4- Linux Boot
Partition 5- D: (Data Backup)

you need to change to LBA32 mode in the bios and then add "LBA32" to the lilo.conf file, then u should be able to boot up in windows xp and linux

wohoo, it worked. Thank you.

I only have one problem, I hate the way the graphical menu looks like for lilo; how the whole screen is blue and there is a huge menu of OS's.

I remember I had a nicer look of a menu with lilo before I reformated my linux partition, where ther was a nice small red box centered in the middle of the screen, looked simple and nice.

Does anybody know how I can get that nice looking red box how to change the graphical menu?
