Problem with Kernel 2.6.18.2

Hello guys,

Im having some trouble compiling the latest stable kernel, im pretty sure im following the instructions and this is not the first time I've done it, I've been out of the linux scene for awhile. Everytime I do everything and reboot, it loads the bzImage and right after lilo is done, the screen just stays black/blank forever till reboot. I wish I could figure it out on my own, but i've tried several times, any help will be appreciated.

Did you remember to run lilo (as root and after making any needed changes to /etc/lilo.conf) before rebooting?

are you able to get a bootable kernel using the same config on a previous version??

in any case, maybe try with version 2.6.18.3, which was released recently...

What kinds of options did you include? I wonder if you might've forgotten something console-related, e.g. enabled the framebuffer console without including a driver.

If you have a working config from a previous kernel you can always import it into a new kernel using the "Load alternate config" option in make menuconfig.
