Problem With Installing LXLE; A Lubuntu And Ubuntu Based OS on Lenovo Ideapad 4446
Hello, I am a newbie to Linux, but I have a bit of experience (3-4 months)
So, the problem I was facing was installing Linux on an old laptop, Lenovo Ideapad 4446. At first, I successfully installed Deepin, but I found out that it was too heavy for this old machine. So, I opted for LXLE, a more lightweight option. I flashed the bootable USB using Etcher. In the BIOS menu, I selected it so that it boots from USB first. I have ran memtest86 and I used many different USB sticks. However, it still does not work. I have included a video of my problem. I am getting a squashfs problem during the installation. I hope that you can help me. The Video: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BTN...ew?usp=sharing |
i have read a few times recently that using rufus with the dd option does a good job of creating live linux usb's. it might be helpful to try a different tool and see if that gets you closer to your goal.

I will try that

try the first or second boot menu choices. you can install from the live session.
|
It wouldn't even boot to live
When I clicked boot to live, I got the SQUASHFS error again and decompression failed. Any ideas?

Yes
Yes, I did try everything. I also used rufus and tried many different settings. I booted in DD mode, too. It didn't work any of those times.
|
did you eheck and see if the iso was a good download?
|
Yes
I downloaded it from sourceforge and I ran a check on rufus to make sure it was a good download.
|
at the menu prompt press tab add rootdelay=15 to the end of the line
|
Okay
I tried it and it worked... Until my computer ran out of battery once it was almost finished. So, when I restarted it and clicked the continue arrow, it had a bunch of question marks in red. Then it said ubi-partman crashed.

If it crashed/died midway through an install, don't try to resume the install or anything - just write over the old data and install it as though it is new. LXLE shouldn't even offer to resume it, though it may have installed far enough to have offered to install it side-by-side.

I did that
